Reduce Glycemic Load
The Glycemic index is a measure of how much a standard quantity of food raises blood glucose levels compared with a standard quantity of glucose or white bread.
The Glycemic load is the product of the glycemic index of a food item and the available carbohydrate content of that item.
A high glycemic load raises the blood levels of triglycerides, blood sugar and insulin and decreases HDL, all of which contribute to increased risk of heart disease.
