Reduce Trans Fat Intake

Reduce Trans Fat Intake

  • Trans fat is the most dangerous dietary fat of all. By raising  the LDL and lipoprotein(a) and decreasing the HDL, trans fat  markedly increases the risk of coronary artery disease (CAD) even at low levels of consumption (1 to 3% of total energy intake).1
  • A recent meta-analysis of randomised clinical trials and prospective cohort studies found that replacing 2% of food energy from trans fats with unsaturated fats reduced CAD risk by 24 %.1, 2 (see Trans Fat)
